Robin Marsh Addressed Shawnee Sisters at Heart Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005

Robin Marsh, NEWS 9 morning newscast anchor, was in Shawnee Thursday, Nov. 3, to speak to women at the community-wide Sisters at Heart gathering at Wesley United Methodist Church, 302 E. Independence.  The event began with a snack supper at 6:30 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. program.

Robin’s topic was“Be Imitators of Christ,” based on Ephesians 5:1. She is a national award-winning journalist and a speaker with the International Christian Women’s Club.

In her 19 years in the television news business, Robin has received many honors, including excellence in feature reporting from the National Academy of Television Journalists, the Society of Professional Journalists, and “Oklahoma Journalist of the Year.” Her series of reports on breast cancer is on display at the National Museum of Broadcast Journalism Center in Chicago. A personal highlight for Robin was in the summer of 1997 when she spoke to over 7,000 Oklahoma students attending the Falls Creek Church Camp. She has hosted the MDA Jerry Lewis telethon, and volunteer s every year with many charitable organizations.

Robin began her broadcast career in her hometown of Lawton in 1983. She was one of the youngest news anchor-reporters in the state. Robin next accepted a news anchor position in Amarillo, TX and then moved to Oklahoma City in 1992. She joined the NEWS 9 team in April of 1995. She has a son named Cade.

The popular gospel music trio, “In His Name,” returned to Shawnee also on Nov. 3 to perform before Robin spoke. They were the guests of Sisters at Heart for the September meeting. The women have written nearly all of their own songs and present their beliefs and stories through musi! c across the state and with several CD recordings.
