and institutions of higher learning. Applications and guidelines are available

Softball
teams play during the spring and summer months. This is a favorite
activity of both players and fans who always fill the stands to cheer
on their team, win or loss.
Our Co-ed Volleyball
team has been idle for the past two years. We have been invited
to rejoin the Shawnee Church League, which plays in the fall at the Salvation
Army gymnasium. E-mail the

Methodist Women
UMW 2008 Yearbook
A long established and greatly beneficial branch of the United Methodist
Church, UMW provides many opportunities for women to contribute missionally
at home and around the world. Circles are the smaller groups of women
within each local UMW chapter. Wesley's Peace,
Faith, and Loving-Hope Circles meet regularly during the school year
and as desired by each group during summer months. Women may choose the
group and meeting time best for them. Spring and fall rummage sales,
annual Fall Craft Show and Stew Lunch, cinnamon
roll bake sales, funeral dinners for families, and mission projects are
some of the UMW¹s projects locally. Meetings are listed on the church
calendar and all women are invited to participate. For more information
contact UMW President, Laynie
Shebester.

Spring
Women's Retreat
Retreats
are planned every spring to include biblical lessons, music, food, and
plenty of fun for weekend or Saturday schedules.
United
Methodist Men
Wesley's UMM are mighty. Weekly men's prayer breakfast, programs, occasional
retreats and work projects keep these men busy. All men are invited to
participate. Their meetings and work projects are listed on the church
calendar. Car Care Clinic is scheduled for the fall. For more
information contact UMM President, Gary
Dowdy.

Singles
Ministry
Nick
and Debbie Chlouber, along with Burky
and Delinda Curtis, use the third
Sunday of the month for a Singles potluck and fellowship. They gather
at 5:00 p.m. (7:00 p.m. in Summer) to have
fun and support each other in life's challenges
for the single person because of divorce, death, or choice.
This
is the only United Methodist ministry of its kind in the Shawnee area,
and it's been a great success.
..
Logos
Adults are always encouraged to help with the Logos program as table
parents, Bible class teachers, worship skills leaders, recreation leaders,
dinner dean, bookkeeper, and kitchen and dining room crews. Also, monetary
donations help with scholarships for needy children and youth. Call
Shirley
Adams to enroll your child: 273-3288.

Sisters
at Heart
An
outgrowth of our Family Life area, SIH has become a community-wide social
and spiritual time for Shawnee's women. They meet monthly, and combine
a snack meal with a noted speaker or special event that has been drawing
great crowds and noteworthy praise.

Mission
Trips and Outreach
Wesley is a very missionally hearted congregation with projects and
work teams locally, in other areas of Oklahoma, in the US and other areas
of the world. Our members usually work on Volunteers In Mission teams
(a UMC organization) with trips to Mexico being favorite projects. Work
teams have also helped at Nagawee
UMC, a rural native American congregation. Several mission
teams from other areas of the US have stayed at Wesley while also lending
a hand to the Nagawee church. Another VIM team is forming to go
to Bolivia. Gary
Dowdy will help you get plugged into a mission team.

Evangelism
Adults deliver loaves of bread with a written activities schedule
on the loaf wrapper to visitors and guests. Wesley is known as a very
friendly congregation. Each church member and participant has his/her
own nametag. Knowledgeable members man the doors on Sundays as greeters
and the Welcome Table in the main hall. Worship services are designed
with a visitor friendly feel. Wesley embraces the UMC's national evangelism
media tool, Igniting Ministry, and its motto of "Open hearts, open
minds, open doors. The People of the United Methodist Church."
Contact Roy
and June McMahan.
Prayer
Advocacy
Prayer is an important part of the live of Wesley Church. The prayer
team or group participates in the Sunday evening service, meets for prayer
at 6:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesday in the evening, and again during the lunch
hour Fridays. Those needing prayer for any reason may contact the prayer
team directly or complete a card in the church pews. Baskets with prayer
needs are located in the main hallway and in the worship service on Sunday
mornings. Special prayer vigils and services are held when needed. A prayer
board for military personnel is currently affixed on the wall in the main
hallway. Contact Sue
Thomas with a prayer request or to see how you can become a part of
this active prayer time.
Spiritual
Formation
Those seeking a closer relationship with God may tap into this area
of ministry. Materials and classes are provided yearly. Contact
Melissa
Baker.
