Job Summary:
To lead and cultivate the Music Ministry at Wesley United Methodist Church. This job includes but is not limited to discipleship, prayer, spiritual guidance, congregational involvement and support, and missional outreach. Working with Wesley’s Ministry Team, we expect that the Music Director will focus on creating spirit led worship that reaches all ages. Wesley uses a blended musical service.
Spiritual Qualities:
Must exhibit strong Christian faith and character that demonstrates a close relationship with God through prayer, bible study, worship and praise, Christian community, and service. Successful candidate must share Christian faith and speak of personal experience of Christ and the Spirit. This person will lead through example and enhance the bonds and unity of the church by practicing compassion, kindness, gentleness, patience, humility, and love. Spiritual alignment with United Methodist doctrine, Wesleyan Theology, our local Congregation is highly desirable.

➢ Experience in planning and implementing music ministry using a blended service of traditional hymns and praise music is highly desirable.
Employment Terms:

➢ The minimum starting salary is $16,000 annually. Salary is negotiable depending on experience, instrumental talent, and music degree (if acquired). Ability to play piano for both traditional and praise music is highly desired.

➢ Work is part-time at 15 hours per week on average annually. Personal time off is flexible. There are no insurance or retirement benefits.

➢ Successful candidate will report to the Senior Pastor and will be accountable to the Wesley Ministry Team and Staff-Parish Relations Committee.

➢ Per Conference and Wesley policy, successful candidate must complete Safe Sanctuary training as a condition of continued employment.
Job Duties:
(Please Note: At Wesley UMC, we strongly believe that Christian ministry works best when built around a team. This position will receive support and be a participating member of a diverse Ministry Team, including: the Senior Pastor, Youth Minister, Wesley Praise Team, Children’s Council, and other Church Leadership.)

➢ Development of blended services (praise and traditional music)

➢ Organization and leading of praise band practice time

➢ Vocal and instrumental arrangement of both praise and traditional music

➢ Directing Choir Practice

➢ Regular communication, collaboration and direction of the Wesley Praise team including band, sound production, and multimedia presentation

➢ Working with Ministry Team to identify greeters and ushers
Monthly and Seasonally
➢ Development and meetings of a Music and Worship Committee
➢ Assist Pastor in the arrangement of communion elements and recruitment of servers
➢ Changing of paraments and other banners in the sanctuary according to the church calendar➢ Work with Wesley Ministry team to develop special worship services for various choirs Other Duties
➢ Regular evaluation of praise band and recruitment of musicians, as needed
