I’m New

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I; send me!” (Isaiah 6:8).

We’re so glad you’re interested in learning more about Wesley United Methodist Church. We are a community of faith caring for each other and dedicated to our focus of:

We are a friendly, growing congregation of approximately 200 located in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Established in the early 1900’s, Wesley UMC is and has always been one of Shawnee’s most active and involved church communities.

Wesley is a ‘people’ church, always welcoming guests. We strive to truly exhibit the United Methodist moto of “open hearts, open minds, open doors”.

Each Sunday we gather for Sunday School (Christian Education) at 9:30am.
We have classes for Children, Youth & Adult Sunday School.

We gather for Worship at 10:30am.

What to Expect

  • Arrival: If it’s your first time, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes prior to the worship start time. That will give you enough time to park and find a seat before the service begins.
  • Dress: We welcome everyone just as they are. Some people dress up and others dress very casually. We encourage you to come the way that you feel most comfortable.
  • During the Service: Each worship you can always expect inspiring music and a message of hope. As part of the service we take up an offering. If you are a guest, please do not feel any pressure or obligation to give. This is an act of worship for our regular participants, allowing them to thank God for all of the great work God is doing in their lives. Sermons that are intellectually honest and spiritually inspiring.
  • Children’s Ministry: We understand how precious your children are and we take great care to make sure that they are safe at all times. When you drop off and pick up your kids there is a check-in and out process to make sure every kid gets home safely. Nursery care and every environment is supervised by qualified volunteers who are loving, professional. They have also agreed to background checks and been cleared by our staff.
  • Guest Information: As a guest, we encourage you to fill out our connect sheet form during worship, this helps us to stay in communication with you and let you know about all of the exciting things happening at New Covenant throughout the year.

Learn More About Wesley UMC

Ideally situated on a main city thoroughfare, we have 10-acres of land, which is lots of room for expansion and growth. A major facility and grounds improvement and building project was recently completed with the renovation of the sanctuary, a new sound system and projector system, a new sanctuary organ and the construction of a 5,600 sq. ft. multi-purpose structure for use as a van garage/picnic recreation/storage pavilion.

We are devoted to missions, with projects targeted locally, within the States and around the world. Mission projects range from serving meals and passing out Bibles and blankets at the local Salvation Army to supporting missionaries abroad, hammering nails on foreign building projects, and sending Volunteers in Mission teams to such places as South Africa, Bosnia, Mexico, and remote locations in Central and South America. We have a heart for missions!

We believe we have a responsibility to make a Christian difference in the lives of all people, both in the community and within the church family, the congregation has adopted a written Mission Statement focusing on this important goal: “We are a caring congregation striving to make disciples of Jesus Christ by drawing generations together to worship, study, and serve.”

Missions. Lively worship and active ministry. Children and youth. Outreach. Teaching. Learning. Making a Christian difference. Caring about people of all ages. On the move. Praying for God’s guidance. Involvement. This is Wesley United Methodist Church!
